New Spring Arrivals

ImageImageOn April 12th the first lovely pure white female lamb was standing at the front of the pen basking in the morning sunlight. I just kneeled down and stared at her. Every year the lambing starts like clockwork almost five months to the day from when the rams were put with the ewes. But birth is still always miraculous to witness. The ewes are instinctively excellent and protective mothers. Within two weeks there are at least eighty lambs springing about in gangs in the pens while their mothers eat and tend to them. The annual shearing is scheduled for June 2. By then the ewes will literally have their wool falling off their bodies and the lambs will be independent enough to be away from their mothers for a time.
